One observes the subtle movement of  "coupled respiration" taking place within this delicate Machine.

A pair of motors gently pump transparent bellows that change the arrangement of the air within a closed space. The two bellows, at either end of the piece, move at slightly different speeds,  subtly changing phase: sometimes they breath in unison, sometimes one exhales while the other inhales its partners breath.

This is a closed, flexible system - fresh air neither enters nor leaves. The appearance of “breathing” results from changes in the internal air pressure on the machines transparent, cellophane skin.
