LARIAT CHAIN

FUN -

This playful artwork/exhibit invites visitors of all ages to touch, feel, catch and pull a motorized chain which responds with a mysterious serpentine motion which enthralls and excites.

EDUCATIONAL -

Experimentation with LARIAT CHAIN provides a self-motivated, intuitive introduction to the physics of waves. The phenomenon of the standing traveling wave comes to life as waves travel, at different velocities, away from the disturbance. A short text is supplied to help visitors use LARIAT CHAIN to understand wave movement and wave propagation.

LOW MAINTENANCE -

A twice yearly clutch adjustment and a periodic replacement of the nylon brush are all that is needed to keep the piece running smoothly for years to come.

BEAUTIFUL -

Norman Tuck has combined an ordinary bicycle wheel with polished aluminum, oak, and forged steel to produce a timeless, classic exhibit/artwork.
