Duchampian Motor

© 1997

5 feet x 3 feet x 2 feet

A simple motor in which a coil of wire periodically repels each of a series of small magnets mounted on the rim of a bicycle wheel.

This piece is an homage to the worlds first kinetic sculpture, The Bicycle Wheel, created by Marcel Duchamp in 1912.

Duchampian Motor was exhibited at the Science Museum of Minnesota in 1999 as part of the Art Machines traveling exhibition. It is currently in strorage in San Francisco and is available for exhibition.
